Who is Rush Limbaugh

Rush Limbaugh,  in full Rush Hudson Limbaugh III,  was born on January 12, 1951, in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, the U.S. His family maintained Republican ties: His grandfather served as an ambassador under President Dwight D. Eisenhower; his uncle was appointed a federal judge by President Ronald Reagan. His father was a local lawyer, while his mother was active in local Republican politics. He began working on a radio partly owned by his father, and his early radio years were marked by clashes with bosses.

Rush Limbaugh, known as the talking giant, made right-wing radio financially viable in the American media, died Wednesday. He announced in 2020 that his lung cancer was terminal and he told listeners that he hoped he would beat the disease. 

Since his emergence in the 1980s as one of the first broadcaster in charge of a national political appeal program, Mr. Limbaugh has turned the once-sleepy field of talk radio into a wing attack machine- His voice is a regular feature of daily life - from homes to workplaces- for millions of faithful listeners.

Rush Limbaugh is one of the singular figures in the American media, sparking distrust, grievances, and even hatred on the right for Americans who did not share their views, and he pushed baseless claims and noxious rumors long before Twitter and Reddit became heaven for such misinformation. 

In politics, he was not only Trump's ally but also a frontrunner, combining media popularity, right-wing intimidation tactics, and over-showmanship to create a huge fan base and intensified attacks on truth and facts.

As the pioneer of AM talk-radio, Limbaugh for 32 years hosted "The Rush Limbaugh Show," a nationwide collaboration program with millions of faithful listeners that turned him into a partisan force and polarizing figure in American politics. In many ways, his radio show was like the huge bang of the conservative media universe. "The Rush Limbaugh Show" helped spread the political talk-radio form and usher in a generation of conservative infotainment.

Limbaugh's influence in conservatives was so great that he was wooed by three very different Republican presidents: George H.W. Bush, George W. Bush, and Donald Trump, the latter being morally well-rounded men who awarded him the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest civilian honor, during the State of the Union address in February year 2020.

Rush Limbaugh launches new Betsy Ross flag shirt to support troops, police

Limbaugh appeared on “Fox & Friends,” and told host, Steve Doocy, he and his wife thought of an idea for the shirt after former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick reportedly prompted Nike to nix the release of a sneaker featuring a Betsy Ross flag. Limbaugh also said the idea of the shirt came to fruition when the US women's football team refused to go to the White House due to their obvious disdain for President Trump. 

The shirt, which sells for $27,  has generated the most revenue on his website and the profits will go to the  Tunnel to Towers charity. The foundation helps the families of fallen police officers, first responders, and soldiers -- many of whom left behind wives and children in grief. The foundation’s aim is to guarantee stability and security to these families facing unexpected, tragic loss.
